Enabling your abilities to flourish

Look at the products on offer from most mobility retailers and you get the impression that the only things their customers want from life are a ride to the shops, a comfortable chair and something to help them out of the bath. At LifeStyle, we take a broader view of our customers’ wishes. We recognise that there is a need to pursue busy careers, develop talents and interests, stay fit and healthy, and we make it our mission to remove any obstacles that stand in the way of that development.

For example, there’s adapted gym equipment and computer aids, such as large-format keyboards and ergonomic mice, for business or pleasure. We have innovative and stylish kitchen equipment designed by and for disabled people. And, of course, we offer a comprehensive range of aids for daily living inside and outside the home.

You’ll be looked after by friendly, well-trained staff who will carry out a careful evaluation of all your individual needs and talk you through the products available. Their job is to listen to the demands and wishes of every customer and find the best solutions to enable their abilities to shine out.

Whatever your disabilities and your desires, come and see what LifeStyle can do to enable you to live the life you want. Visit our showroom at 373-375 Uxbridge Road, London W3, or call 0845 122 1486. The showroom is open from 9:30am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday and 10:00am to 4:30pm, Saturday, or on Sundays by special appointment.

Accessible Exercise Equipment

photo of multi-gym equipmentWhatever our abilities, the optimisation of health and fitness is essential to our wellbeing.

Whether training as a paralympic athlete, or just trying to stay reasonably fit, it is often impossible for disabled users to access exercise equipment in gyms, leisure centres and health clubs.

The Guardian Integra range has been designed specifically to allow for the inclusion of all users.

Pioneering design in the development of equipment compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act, The Guardian Integra range, via Hiorns International, provides the most comprehensive range of inclusive use equipment available today. It incorporates flexibility of configurations for multiple layout options, offering space-saving opportunities in gym design.

The series benefits from high visibility touch and adjustment points, ensuring the products are also perfectly suited to the visually impaired.

Adapted IT equipment

photo of big key keyboardIT equipment in general, and the internet in particular, should be used to make everyone’s lifestyle easier, whether in finding a job, a car, a holiday, or just for research.

In our experience, however, it is often difficult to find IT equipment and software adapted for disabled users.

In association with Adapt-IT, LifeStyle’s IT zone has been established to help disabled people to make full use of computers.

Adapt-IT specialise in providing a wide range of disability equipment, computer aids and visual impairment products as well as software and hardware for the prevention of RSI, dyslexia programs and a variety of special needs software.

Our services include:

  • Training on the hardware and software products we supply
  • Installation services and specialist ergonomic services including user and workstation assessments and assessor training courses.

Accessible Kitchens

photo of accessible kitchenLifeStyle’s Household & Seating zone features kitchens designed by our associate company Design Matters.

We believe that stylish, versatile kitchens should be available to all. Designed by Adam Thomas, the UK’s only wheelchair-using experienced kitchen designer, these uniquely accessible designs, incorporate a wide range of innovative and practical solutions.

Using appliances selected for their safety features, electronically activated work surfaces and wall units, high quality carousels and pull-out shelves, kitchens can now be accessed by every member of the family, or by staff and residents alike in a care environment. Contrast edging to work surfaces improves safety for the visually impaired, as does the addition of a raised edge, which contains spills and reduces the risk of burns from hot liquids. Adam is constantly developing new design ideas to respond to the needs of our clients.
